What is Reading? Looking at The Science of Reading (Morning Session)

In 2001, Dr. Hollis Scarborough, a scientist and literacy expert, published what is now known as “Scarborough’s Reading Rope,” which conveys how the different “strands” of reading are all interconnected and how this also serves as a metaphor for understanding The Science of Reading. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to attain a better understanding of the elements of reading instruction through an in-depth exploration of the reading rope. This workshop will feature videos of teachers engaged with all strands of the Reading Rope.
