TEC Internship Team Honored with Collaborative Award

On Thursday, November 19, TEC’s Internship & Career Exploration team was honored at  Brewster Branding’s Thank You & Awards Night event along with four student summer interns. Comprised of Emily Manz, Lauren Merriam and Jennifer Sullivan, the TEC Internship Team received the award for Collaborative Community Partner of the Year, and TEC intern Leila Salim from Newton South High School won the Rising Star Award for 2020.

Brewster Branding, a creative agency out of Randolph, specializes in brand development and management through web design and digital and social media marketing.

Other nominations for the Internship Team included the Innovation Education Award. In addition to Leila Salim’s nomination and win, three other TEC interns were also selected as nominees in the following categories: Megan MacDonald of Westwood High School and Zoe Sodickson of Wayland High School for the Rising Star Awards and Dan Lavenson of Wayland and Rollins College for the Emerging Leader Award.

Beginning this past summer, the TEC Internship Team collaborated with the branding agency for the first time to serve as a mentor in their Summer Internship Program. This Program, which matches career-minded students with professional mentors in their field of interest, serves primarily high school and some college students from both TEC-member and non-member high districts. The agency hosted four TEC over the summer months, all of whom completed a successful placement of more than 60 hours of work in the business, digital and marketing fields.
