About TEC Online Learning
Approved by DESE and supported by TECCA (Commonwealth of Massachusetts Virtual School), TEC Connections Learning (TECCL) offers high-quality online courses for your district students with MA-Certified Online Teacher Support. These courses may accelerate student learning, expand their interests with an elective, or support students who need credit recovery.
TEC member districts are Canton, Dedham, Dover, Dover-Sherborn, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Natick, Needham, Norwood, Sherborn, Walpole, Wayland, and Westwood.
Check with your school counselor or District Contact about how to enroll in these courses or contact Antoinette Leshore at 781-352-5719.
The TECCL teachers provide synchronous instruction through weekly LiveLesson sessions, and student- and teacher-initiated direct instruction. They are the teachers of record; respond to student-initiated emails and telephone calls; grade assignments; moderate discussion boards; and assign final grades. The course catalog is aligned to Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and contains courses in the following categories: Core Courses, Advanced Courses (Advanced Placement), Elective Courses, CTE, World Languages, and National Test Prep.
TEC Member District Licenses
All enrollment licenses are reusable and refillable; if a student withdraws from a course, districts can reuse that course enrollment for another student who wants to take any course from the course catalog in that semester.
There is no drop-period for licenses.
Each district has 80 free seats per school year, including summer. These seats are non-transferable between school years.
Member District Family Resources
Just as parents are responsible for their child’s education in traditional settings, parents of students, who are learning remotely, are also responsible for overseeing their child’s education. As the Parent or the Caretaker in the room, you are considered the ‘Learning Coach’ for your child. Learning Coaches are more involved in their students’ education than parents of students in a traditional school. Learning Coaches of elementary students generally spend more time working with their students than Learning Coaches of middle or high school students.
- Elementary: About 5–6 hours
- Middle School: About 2–3 hours
- High School: About 1–2 hours
The amount of Learning Coach time and level of effort varies, depending on the student’s age and ability to work independently.
