Our Approach

TEC Academy - Lower Campus (TAL) is dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students in grades K-2 who face social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges that hinder their participation in the general education setting. Our substantially separate classrooms are designed to offer a small, structured setting where each child receives individualized attention and flexible support tailored to their unique needs.

Our primary goal is to equip students, over time, with the skills and confidence they need to participate in a full academic school day and access the general education curriculum in the least restrictive setting. By providing a caring and supportive environment, we strive to empower each child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Who does TAL serve:

  • Students with the following disabilities including but not limited to:

    • Emotional
    • Health
    • Specific Learning
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges

  • Students in need of an extended evaluation to collect further information to determine additional supports and programming

    • This may include behavioral or clinical assessments

TAL’s highly-qualified, experienced DESE licensed professionals provide individualized instruction using research-based curricula that is aligned with the MA Curriculum Frameworks. With our small classroom setting, teachers are able to flexibly adjust lesson plans to meet the needs of students day-to-day and week-to-week. At TAL we ensure that each student is both challenged and supported so that they experience and build on success.

Program Features

Individualized Attention in a Small, Structured Setting

Our classrooms are intentionally small to ensure that every child benefits from personalized attention and a structured learning environment. This setup allows our highly trained staff to implement individualized strategies that address each student's specific challenges and foster their growth.

Integrated Counseling and Social-Emotional Skill Development: Empathetic and Understanding Staff

Our dedicated staff members possess a deep understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by students and their families. They work collaboratively with families to create and implement effective strategies that support each child's progress and well-being.

Beautiful and Enriching Campus

TEC's 8-acre campus provides a stimulating and serene environment for learning and growth. Students have access to a variety of facilities, including a gym, playground, and pool, which contribute to a well-rounded educational experience. These resources support physical activity and recreational opportunities, enhancing overall development and well-being.

Clinical Support

Social-emotional learning is a core component of our program. TAL’s full-time adjustment counselor ensures that counseling supports are integrated throughout the school day to help students develop essential social skills and emotional regulation strategies. Our approach promotes positive behavior, laying the foundation for future success in both academic and social settings.

At The Education Cooperative, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our students and their families, fostering a pathway toward greater inclusion and success within the broader educational community.
