RETELL SEI Administrator Endorsement

The RETELL (Rethinking Equity in the Teaching of English Language Learners) Program  was designed to help teachers and administrators codify and address the performance gaps among our ELLs; the Administrator Endorsement course is one facet of RETELL.

The course provides K-12 administrators with theoretical, historical, cultural, linguistic, and instructional information regarding English language learners (ELLs). Topics will include federal and state laws/regulations related to ELLs; second language acquisition; WIDA principles and standards; culturally responsive classrooms; effective sheltered English instructional strategies; and family and community engagement. As part of the course, participants will observe instruction in classrooms with ELLs and reflect on the effectiveness of the observed teaching strategies for ELLs.
