Designing Deep Project-Based Learning Using Design Thinking

Course Description

Not sure what the next school year is going to look like? Face-to-face? Totally online? Or a hybrid model? Without question, the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic has upended the way educators deliver instruction for their students. Project-based learning (PBL) is a logical solution that can be delivered in any of these teaching scenarios.

This facilitated online course is designed to help teachers develop deep project based learning experiences for students at any level. The course will provide models and individual coaching for participants so they are able to design and facilitate a PBL unit using design thinking and deeper learning frameworks. Each course module includes exercises and elements of teaching and learning strategies that use a variety of tools and teaching methods that support all learners. Participants are encouraged to interact with other class participants to give and receive feedback, as well as create meaningful and relevant artifacts illustrative of deep learning. Reflective practice is a key component for participants as they engage in the iterative process of PBL unit development. The final course product will be a complete PBL learning experience developed and executed by participants.
